Thanks for the clarilty, all of you. I suffered through visits with my parents and sibs that included their bad manners and rudeness all those years because they don't realize they're that way. But I finally excused my DH from participating at Christmas with them two years ago when he had to sit and watch the rest of us open gifts. No one had gotten him anything. I didn't open mine, and left it there, but they didn't "get it" from my actions. . .

How despicable their behavior. Good for you leaving that gift and their behavior in the past tense. IMO, he should have excused himself long before you excused him two years ago.

Sorry all, I've been MIA for a bit sad.gif Trying to cope with being back at work, and the HEAT!

Oz is sweltering ATM - temps in the high 30s and even 40s [that's Celsius!] and extreme to catastrophic fire danger over most of the southern half of the continent
angry.gif If you have any rain to spare, please send it down!

My DGD#1 had a major op last Monday, and is still in quite a lot of pain sad.gif Her heart rate was very high, which was a worry, but apparently it was down to 120 this morning, hopefully this means they are getting the pain under control?

Hi all!
I just thought I should pop in and say hello.

I'm on the forum, lurking a few times each day, responding if something pulls my strings, but mostly I'm busy with many different things, not doing much concentrated flying and am not focused enough to post anything coherent out of the blue. (As I said on an earlier post, I'm not good at initiating conversations.)

anyway, I'm still around and items do get crossed off my to-do lists each day. So that counts toward some kind of progress/ accomplishment.

I need to get back to that list now and see what else needs to be done today as it is already past 5 in the evening.

Tonight we're having dinner out, celebration of two weddings of regular synagogue member families.

Dabs

Hi LG, glad to see you again. It gets that hot, oh my. That's like where I live except that we're up over 40 for about half the year. Do you have air? Glad your DGD has the surgery over with, and I wish her a speedy recovery.

Another weekend gone. I vacuumed the whole house. I did the mopping but not with a string mop! I used this kind of microfiber tapered thingie mop. I did some decluttering of my bedroom closet. I scrubbed the entry, yes, on my knees. I did the laundry and hung it out. And I brought it and and folded it and put it away.

Weekend, page 2 (they wouldn't let me put so many smilies in one page)

I feather dusted part of the house. And of course I adjusted the T.P. And I did more dishes tonight that I've done in a long time because I also did come crock potting. And several times I did consider beating myself over the head but thought I could more productively use my time by playing video games. And that was my weekend. How was yours?

not as much work as you Abby

But fun .My friend's grandson had his 5th birthday party and we went it was fun watching little boys wrestle and play pin the tail on the donkey but when we got to the pinata no bat it was gone??
So they tried to pull the strings that they have on them now to keep younger kids safe from that bat swinging but it didn't work they all stood there with strings in their hands and no candy lol so we let them pull it apart they had a blast.

Now back to the real world I have to pick up John early from school all 3 days of this week, than Thanksgiving dinner here and the long weekend to rest up lol ?
So I have cleaning and cooking to do. got my turkey thawing and Mt. Washmore under control

good morning, all! I am tempted to crawl back into bed, since I've been a bit tired lately.. but instead I will do my exercise, eat my breakfast and head out to the library and market. Have my turkey thawing... going to get the extras! May need to take an early nap today ..lol

Lantana, thanks so much for your response to my inquiry.... I found what I was looking for wink.gif

MCL and Eliz Anne: it is sad when families don't "gel " together the way we'd like, but sometimes it just is what it is. I have a mother who I know loves me, but does things that don't always show it.... after telling me she'd come help me when I gave birth 20 years ago, she was "on her way to a show" with a friend.. and I should let her know when it happened... well, she didn't get the first call.. let me tell ya. I just had my 57th birthday... got a card... no phone call... she e-mailed me that she was going to call but it was too late..... and I figured she'd call the next day or so.... NOPE. I had a friend years ago whose inlaws were so awful to her that even the rabbi told her , yes, he knew those people, and she needed to distance herself for her own sanity and the welfare of her family. the human race is unpredictable... and the reality is that sooner or later, you'll be disappointed by someone.... but, hopefully you can talk and work through it... that doesn't always work.
ah, well. I'm not anxious and bitter about my mom anymore, just chagrined.

This was a good weekend. the weather was nice... so spent time outside with DH raking the lawn and scooping leaves and debris out of the stairwell... went to hunt for shower doors and came home with a wine cooler instead laugh.gif DH called it an impulse purchase, but it really wasn't, cuz we've talked about getting one for years...and there was a good sale on it. We set it up in the dining room, next to the buffet. We will hopefully now have wines that don't go bad!! and at the perfect temperature for enjoying!

btw, a while back I'd mentioned that we had a movie theatre type popcorn machine (though much smaller!).. someone had asked about it.... and I'd said that the best time to find them in the stores is around the winter holiday season.... which is NOW... so if anyone is interested.... go check them out.. I've seen them out already.

Oh, yes, yesterday I did one of my least favorite "blessings".... vac and mop of the foyer and kitchen floors... but all done and looks good and have a new cushy red and white polka dot mat in front of the sink!
bye for now,
SL
