Hi, all!
Level 2:1!!!! OKAY, it's bad, kind of, but no where as bad as going from not exercising to level 1!!! I think I did about 90%, and yes, everything I could modify was, but still. YAY ME!!! I had to bribe myself Before, by heating up my lunch, very low fat and lots of veggies homemade chicken soup for me to smell. I don't eat lunch until I exercise, or it WON"T happen!!! |

I'm sore again like I was the very 1st time I tried this. WTG musical cat. We do what we can to get ourselves moving. 3Ring, WTG! I had to drop out for a week with a sickness, and YEP! HARD to come back! Keep on keeping on! You go, girl!
Well, I was SORE yesterday after level 2. I thought I was fine, until I had to walk up slight hill and 8 steps to go to work an hour or so later. I never knew there were 8 steps; they've never bothered me before. I've worked there two days a week for 10+ years and never counted the stairs before! Today, I had planned to do a full TI CHI workout, but got called in to sub. I DID do the evening relaxation one, and that was 20 minutes, so I think that counts. I'm going to try JUST PLANKS! NOT crazy planks! Mimi, try just going up into plank position for 20-30 seconds, and building time. IF you can get up to 3 minutes, you're golden. Actually, that is the one exercise my family doctor gave me for my upper back, well, regular and side planks, all building up to 3 minutes. I can really feel Jillian's exercises in my upper back, so I figure it's getting exercised enough! |

Hi, everyone. I had planned to SHRED. But then I did most of my WHBH, and my back started feeling very sore and achy. WHAT! Where did that come from??!! The last time I tried to push through backache I wish I hadn't, so I didn't. I remember it taking a couple of weeks to heal.
I did TI CHI instead. I still felt it in my back, but it's better now. Ibuprofen is a wonder drug, lol. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and hope to actually shred tomorrow. |

Level 2:2 DONE!YAY!
I realized that I really have to watch my form. That's how I hurt my back. YIKES! IF I do the modifications, it's easier on my back and knees. Mimi, I'm falling apart, too! |

Its awesome to see some of us still doing this. It doesn't matter how its modified or what day you are on...we are DOING it. Go US!!
I did 1:2 yesterday and 1:3 today. I am not as sore as I was earlier, and I can feel my muscles coming back. Yay! I am really trying to focus on the arm stuff to build up some strength, but I have to be careful with my shoulder. I think I was pushing too hard and straining it. Babysteps. Not sure if I'll shred over the weekend or not, but I'll try to report in if I do. Keep at it ladies. You are Awesome! -------------------- I do not have to live my life in the cycle of Peace/CHAOS. I think it's funny how much better I like Level 1 now that I'm working on Level 2. Will I like 2 if I EVER get to Level 3?
I haven't shredded for a few days. I'll get to it when I can, but my work schedule has been making it so difficult. |

Hey all you shredders!
Ok, y'all got me contemplating this...except (I know, I know, excuses, but its a good one You see my dilemma? I've got to make arrangements for someone to come help me and my son move this stuff, don't know when that will be but I'm really hoping for it to happen in the next couple of weeks. However, I've been contemplating some sort of exercise to work into my life. I'm sick of feeling, fat, ugly and my self esteem is suffering quite a bit. I'm recently single, at least a month and a half now, and while I do not plan to even think about dating until at least the 6 month mark, loosing weight is definately something on my goals list as a single woman. I had a serious accident that left me laid up for 3 months and in that time I know I lost muscle mass. In the 3 years since the accident I've gone from a size 4 to a snug 12, from 137 lbs to 187 lbs....UGH! I also just plain feel weaker than I ever have in my life. I picked up the video and watched it today. I like the weight training she does, and also the fact that its not really aerobics or step where you are bouncing all over the floor in complicated movements. I've always hated aerobics but her form of cardio seems doable to my preferences. Her voice doesn't bother me like others I've had either but there is an option of shutting it off. (can't stand Denise Austin, ugh) I've got Jane Fonda's strength tape and have done that years back but it's very dated...lol. I have also been thinking about adding some cardio in the form of fast walking on my treadmill too. Plus I'm used to the plank and side plank, except we do it from hands, not elbows in yoga. You guys are right to modify any of the moves so you can do them safely. When I start, I plan to use NO WEIGHTS. I've been there done that before and couldn't walk for a week, the 3 days following it being the worst, I felt like I was walking like I had just gotten off a horse...lol. Besides, it looks from the video that they are only using like 1-2 lb weights anyway....they are pretty small. The good thing about lighter weights is you don't bulk as much and are loosing more fat vs building muscle weight. **(see Escape Your Shape, to loose you do higher reps with light weights which still builds strength but later you can add more weight if you want to build more muscle after the layer of fat has decreased. Some body types bulk more than others and will actually make you bigger when you want to trim down. Also the reason you don't see a bigger difference on the scales, the muscle weighs more. I'm into natural health so I know a little bit The only thing I disagree with is her direction to work out every day. Weight training creates micro tears in the muscles which need rest to repair them, this is what makes the muscles bigger, its actually scar tissue. Most experts will tell you only every other day, or work different muscle groups on alternating days. She didn't supply 2 alternating workouts and you would be working the same muscle groups every day, that can create problems. Anyway, I wanted to cheer you on and tell you all what an impressive job you are doing, and let you know you may have another workout buddy on this thread soon. |

I'm so glad, ladies, that I'm not the only one that needs to modify! Sharra, Twich, start slowly, and build up! It's about doing, not how much/if you can use weights! I have to be careful not to injure my back, knees and hands, so I do a LOT of modifying the cardio!

Haven't shredded lately. I have been having issues. Don't know what it is, but it started with a sore lower back - it didn't feel like I'd hurt myself (didn't feel like a pulled muscle), but I had (and still have) no clue. Today, it feels a little like it might be the sciatic nerve. I dunno'. But, I worked out today at Curves and it didn't make it worse, so I also went to the gym. But, shredding - I don't think I'm up to that. But, I did do some of the level 1 ab moves today at the gym.
Hopefully, I'll be up to a shred later in the week. I'm proud of you ladies for keeping it up. I think we should be proud every shred we do! |
