It's very hard to have enough "oomph" to care enough to *do* the bigger things in life, particularly when the thing looks big (like my garage, or painting my bedroom & basement) or when time is limited (as mine is, due to work and car issues).
I really need to be brave and tackle some things. And I know how to do them. I know how to manage *and* maximize my time in order to do them. And I *want* them done. But I don't want to *do* them. I don't *not* want to do them...I just don't like the thought of how *big* and *time consuming* they look. And It just feeeeeeeels downright depressing to me for whatever reason. But, in a month, whether I have done them or not - a month will have gone by. And if I have done them, I will feel glad that I did them. If not, I will continue in my nice little world of denial. So - do I clean and paint my bedroom, tackle my garage, or paint my basement? Or slink off and have some chocolate? Or © All of the Above? (D) None of the Above or (E) Other, please write a five page essay to explain. Oh where-all is my wherewithall when I need it all? |

Wherewithal is so often misunderstood, just like Wherefore art thou Romeo people think Juliet is talking about where Romeo is. No matter. I suggest you figure out how to make the big jobs into little jobs. That's the way I managed to get my entry done, just parts of it at a time. The whole thing I didn't think I could do. Bits and pieces of it I could do. And I got it done. Only problem is that when it comes to housekeeping, nothing is ever really "done." Well, good luck in your next flying adventure, whatever it may be. -------------------- Abby

Hi
I would start with the bedroom because this is the room you spend most time in and you will enjoy having it nice. You can break the cleaning and tidying and decluttering down into smaller jobs but the painting will have to be done more or less in one go, also if you have to move furniture out of the room. You will have to leave that until you have at least one full day free. I think a full weekend at least would be best so you can take breaks. Do you have someone who will help you , it would be more fun with 2 (or more) and you could get some nice food in to cheer you up and make a sort of fun time of it. -------------------- ![]() Of course it must be that ugly beast called perfectionism that's trying to wriggle its way into our nests. Take a broom and chase it away. You can do that! Just take a good look at this signature and you know how to scare this little, nasty b*gg!r out of your house. Ariadne Kos |

What room or area would make you the happiest if it was done? That's where I would start. I suspect it would be your bedroom. When bedrooms are fixed up, we tend to not only enjoy going in there but I think we sleep better. Just think about it. You are lying in bed and looking around and see all the things that need to be done in there....that can't be restful.
What ever you decide to commit to, that will be another burden off your shoulders. |

Yes, definitely the bedroom, although I don't actually lay there and think about it - I'm too tired and I have it so pitch black in there that I couldn't see it if I tried!
At this, point, however, the NPO for which I work has a major fundraiser on Monday, so I think I will wait until after that to tackle it. Unless I get a good does of wherewithal tomorrow! |

WOW! I love the alphabetize idea.
I do believe that is a true gem of an idea. Ladies, start practising your abc's A - ammaretto B - bailey's C - cosmopolitan D - daquari E - early afternoon cocktail etc. check out drinknation.com for letters F-Z -------------------- |
